Thickener

We use lactic acid for its mild exfoliating effects on the skin, and also as a shower gel thickener.
Lactic acid is an organic compound that's produced both naturally and synthetically. It's produced via a fermentation process using Lactobacillus, a bacteria commonly used in probiotics. The bacteria convert simple carbohydrates (like glucose, sucrose or galactose) into lactic acid. Lactic acid is also an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA), which means that it can exfoliate the top layer of skin to leave it smooth and bright.
