Toning and balancing
Cedarwood has a pleasant, balsamic and woody aroma and is used extensively in perfumery. The Chinese variety is intensely smoky. It's balancing and often used in meditation. Cedarwood oil and absolutes are toning and tightening, which can be helpful in cleansing oily skin.
This oil is extracted from the wood of the evergreen shrub by steam distillation. We use both Cupressus funebris, which originates from China, and Juniperus virginiana, the Virginian variety.
