Why go naked?

Plastic pollutes at every stage of its lifecycle—upstream in its production as an oil byproduct and downstream through air, land and water. Reducing the water content of formulas has allowed us to create solid versions of products that don't require any packaging whatsoever making them a greener option to continue enjoying all the goodness without the waste!

Our naked haircare, bath and body products save millions of plastic bottles from being produced, transported and disposed of every year.

When Lush co-founder Mo Constantine and cosmetic chemist Stan Krysztal were trying to formulate a new kind of soap, they accidentally created the first step for the mighty shampoo bar, which has gone on to raise the bar in the haircare industry.

Our shampoo bars are a fabulous example of the far-reaching impact that a single switch from packaged to naked can make. One bar replaces up to three 250 ml bottles of liquid shampoo, reducing a significant amount of carbon emissions from plastic production. Plus, no plastic bottles will end up in a landfill or the ocean.

Our solid products are also perfect for travel: they can be stowed in your carry-on bag wherever you’re headed and will never spill or leak in your luggage. Plus, most of our naked, solid inventions are self-preserving too, meaning they don’t require any synthetic preservatives to stay fresh.

Shampoo bars

Our shampoo bars are our best-known naked inventions for your hair. These solid shampoos are loaded with fresh ingredients and fragrant essential oils to leave your locks feeling clean and fabulous. They may be small, but these mighty bars last for about 80 washes—the equivalent of three 8-ounce bottles of liquid shampoo!

Pressed conditioners

Follow up with a naked, pressed conditioner for smooth, silky locks. These solid creations are a new innovation, and a step up from some of our older solid conditioners, made with all the same hydrating, hair-loving ingredients like coconut oil and fair trade cocoa butter. Each one is customized with specialized ingredients for unique effects. Big, for example, is loaded with sea salt and lemon juice for volume and shine while American Cream features lavender oil to balance troubled scalps and agave syrup to lock in hydration. Whichever one you choose, these long-lasting bars will keep your hair looking and feeling fab.

Hair, scalp and hot oil treatments

When it comes to keeping your hair and scalp in tip-top condition, an at-home treatment can work wonders. Our solid, naked hot oil treatment delivers serious results without unnecessary packaging. Henna hair dyes

We’ve taken natural dyes like henna and indigo and mixed them with a conditioning fair trade cocoa butter base to create a solid product with minimal packaging. Choose from Brun, Rouge, Marron, Noir, and Vénitien and see what hair dye can do for your ‘do. Our hennas are wrapped in 100% recycled/recyclable paper.
